Newcastle & Lake Macquarie Campaign Event

As a part of the More Than Thanks campaign, the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Teachers Associations will be holding an event and calling on the Perrottet government to enter into genuine negotiations with the union and put an end to the unsustainable workloads and uncompetitive salaries - the root cause of the teacher shortage crisis.

The meeting is also an opportunity for members to hear directly from Federation President Angelo Gavrielatos.

That the Government is pursuing a new Award that seeks to impose a 2.04 per cent salary cap with no change to the crippling working conditions experienced by the profession for a three-year period is contemptuous.

At a time when inflation is running at 3.5 per cent and predicted to grow, this would constitute a cut to teachers’ real income and status of the profession.

We need to stand together so we can send a clear message to the government that teachers deserve More Than Thanks.
